Trading Desk Review: EchoFX Pro — Is It Worth Your Capital?
EchoFX Pro launched as a challenger platform promising low latency execution and institutional-grade features for retail traders. In this review we analyze order execution, fees, charting, API access, customer support, and who should consider EchoFX Pro.
Methodology
We tested EchoFX Pro over 6 weeks using live accounts across equities, options, and futures. We measured execution speed, slippage, fills on multi-leg option strategies, reliability during high volatility, customer support response times, and billing clarity. We also compared its feature set against two peers in the low-cost active trading segment.
Execution and latency
Execution is the platform's headline claim. Measured round-trip times averaged 120-180ms for U.S. equities during regular hours from our East Coast testing node. That performance is competitive for retail platforms but not ultra-low compared to co-located institutional gateways.
Slippage for market orders on the S&P 500 ETF averaged -0.03% on filled trades. Limit orders posted and cancelled as expected, with few instances of partial fills on thinly traded names.
Fees and pricing
EchoFX Pro offers a tiered pricing model:
- Base subscription: $29/month (enhanced charts, faster data)
- Per-share fee structure for equities: $0.0025/share with $1.00 minimum
- Options: $0.45 per contract + $1.50 exercise fee
- Futures: Exchange fees plus a flat $0.20 per contract
Compared to peers, active equities traders trading high volume may find EchoFX cheap. Options traders with smaller contract sizes might pay more per trade relative to certain flat-rate competitors.
Platform and charting
Charting is modern and responsive. EchoFX's built-in scripting language supports custom indicators and alerts. The platform supports multi-monitor layouts, detachable panels, and a dark/light theme. Some pros:
- Advanced order types (OCO, trailing stop with time-in-force)
- Depth-of-market view and ladder trading
- Strategy backtesting on intraday data for equities and futures
A few limitations: the mobile app lacks the full scripting features, and backtesting analytics lack integrated walk-forward testing.
API and automation
EchoFX Pro provides a REST API and a websocket for real-time data and order routing. Latency via API is slightly higher than GUI execution but acceptable for many algorithmic strategies. The API documentation is clear and includes sample SDKs for Python and Node.js.
Customer support and reliability
Customer support response times averaged 1.4 hours via chat and 6 hours via email during our tests. The support team answered advanced questions on order routing and fee exceptions competently. Platform uptime during the testing window was 99.95% with two brief maintenance windows scheduled outside market hours.
Who is EchoFX Pro best for?
EchoFX Pro targets active retail traders and small proprietary groups who need better-than-average execution, customizable charting, and API access without institutional on-boarding complexity. If you trade high-volume equities, EchoFX's per-share model is attractive. Options traders should compare per-contract costs and execution quality for multi-leg spreads.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Competitive execution for retail
- Powerful charting and scripting
- Solid API and documentation
Cons:
- Mobile feature parity is lacking
- Options pricing may be costly for low-volume traders
- Not a substitute for ultra-low-latency institutional gateways
EchoFX Pro is not a silver bullet, but it is a serious contender for traders seeking pro features without institutional onboarding headaches.
Verdict
For active equities traders who value execution and a customizable desktop, EchoFX Pro offers strong value. For options specialists or traders requiring the absolute lowest latency, shop around. As always, test a platform with small capital first and verify trade execution quality on the instruments you trade most frequently.
